Historic Fort Huger
We found this quite by accident today, but as with all our trips we don’t have a hard agenda. The journey and adventure is our goal. I saw a new sign for “Historic Fort Huger” pointing down a road we have traveled before, I don’t recall seeing that before, or we would have checked it out then.
The site is a nice interpretative site about the fort, and those who built and served at it during its short life, it is a short hike down a well maintained and fairly flat trail, if you are in the area, it is worth the visit.
The fort is located near here, but the roads to the actual fort are real new, what shows as a dirt road on the map in now Lawnes Point Road or something like that. just go down that road until you see a split rail fence on the right/East side of the road.
